Bear Creek Reservoir
In 2008, the Georgia EPD formally certified the need for a reservoir in south Fulton County capable of supplying the region’s water needs through 2050. The project has also been endorsed by the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District as one of six water-storage projects currently under way. In February 2009, the South Fulton Municipal Regional Water and Sewer Authority filed a Section 404 permit application with U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. The permit will allow the authority to move forward with constructing a reservoir that will ultimately yield 16.44 million gallons per day of water for residents of the South Fulton area. The Bear Creek Reservoir is designed to meet the needs of the south Fulton region through 2050.
